A German CBD oil manufacturer has launched three products at one of Germany’s main drugstore chains.
CannaCare Health GmbH said its CANOBO products hit the shelves at 2,200 branches of ROSSMANN drugstore across Germany in February 2020.
The products include two full-spectrum CBD nutritional supplements at concentrations of 2.75% and 5% and a topical sport recovery gel.
Frank Otto, CannaCare Health’s majority shareholder, credited the company’s extensive testing and certification process with the ROSSMANN deal.
Germany’s Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) clarified its stance on CBD in March 2019, saying anyone manufacturing a food product containing CBD must apply for novel food authorization before the products are placed on the market.
One month later, ROSSMANN and competitor drugstore dm removed select CBD products from their shelves, with both confirming the move to German magazine Stern.
ROSSMANN spokeswoman Laura Förster declined to respond to questions about the decision to carry CANOBO, citing “competitively sensitive information” in an email to Hemp Industry Daily.
