Sira Naturals becomes first Massachusetts marijuana company with unionized workforce

Sira Naturals announced Friday that is becoming the first marijuana company in Massachusetts to have unionized employees.
Workers at Sira Naturals will join the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1445. The agreement will cover 115 employees.
Company management worked with UFCW and the employees to allow them to join the union, according to a statement from the company.
UFCW already represents thousands of workers in the legal marijuana industry in other states.
Sira Naturals’ founder and president, Michael Dundas said in a statement, “As the largest cannabis union in the country, we believe UFCW will be a strong partner in paving the way for a new generation of union agreements that reflect the importance of a strong and independent labor force in the cannabis industry.” [Read More @ Mass Live]
