Oregon hemp company warns of layoffs after permit violation

A rural Oregon hemp-extraction company is warning of 90 layoffs because of a permit delay.
Evergreen State Holdings sent notice about the potential layoffs to Oregon authorities last week, the Portland Business Journal reported.
Located about two hours east of Portland, the company said it received a stop-work order from the Oregon Building Codes Division for an unspecified building code violation.
Evergreen said it plans to resubmit its application to try to avoid laying off workers.
If the resubmitted application is rejected, the company could need two weeks or longer to reopen its manufacturing facility in the town of Grass Valley, company CEO Phil Swindells wrote in a letter to the Oregon Dislocated Worker Unit.
The plant makes hemp-extracted CBD tinctures, creams, vapes and pet products.
The company on Tuesday did not immediately return a request for comment from Hemp Industry Daily.
