Indiana CBD processing plant expanding into hemp drying, milling thanks to local tax credit

A CBD maker that converted a former wheat germ plant into an extraction facility last year is expanding into hemp drying and milling, thanks in part to a tax abatement from its northern Indiana city.
Viobin plans to add 15 jobs and a hemp dryer, screen, pelletizer and hammermill. The company says the expansion will cost about $6.1 million.The manufacturer was awarded a five-year tax abatement last week from officials in Michigan City, about an hour east of Chicago, Inside Indiana Business reported.
Viobin is a subsidiary of Panhandle Milling, a Texas company that manufactures grain products. Viobin extracts CBD from hemp for use by secondary manufacturers.
Last year Panhandle Milling converted the wheat germ plant to CBD production because of slow demand and sales for wheat germ.
