How CBD Is Specifically Used For The Treatment Of Stress

CBD and other Cannabis-derived products are getting a lot of attention these days. With the purported benefits slowly becoming validated through research, CBD is showing a lot of promise as a treatment for many conditions, and as an investment opportunity.
Human research being completed has shown strong evidence that CBD can be used effectively to treat many stress and anxiety symptoms. In one study, researchers in Brazil had patients suffering from generalized social anxiety consume CBD and all reported a noticeable drop in their anxiety symptoms. To further validate these findings, brain scans were done which further legitimized the claims of CBD’s anti-anxiety potential.
How Is It Used?
CBD is sold in a variety of forms and depending on its intended use, one form may be preferable over the others. CBD is most commonly found in liquid form as an oil, extract, or tincture to be taken orally or topically. Other forms include as an E-liquid or Vape cartridge to be used similarly to smoking, in patch form, or in edible form.
- Ingested:
- CBD may be taken orally as either an oil or in the form of an edible in order to relieve stress. Ingesting offers longer lasting relief but with a much slower onset than when smoking. A patient can expect to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour before noticing relief, but the effects felt can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours.
- Smoked:
- CBD may be used to relieve stress by way of smoking the flower of CBD dominant strains of hemp or by using a vaporizer with either CBD E-liquid or a CBD cartridge. Smoking or vaping CBD offers near instant relief from stress but at the cost of a much lower duration of relief. Where ingesting CBD can result in 2 to 4 hours of relief, smoking or vaping only offers the user around 45 minutes to an hour of potential stress relief.
- Topically Applied:
- CBD may be applied topically in order to mitigate symptoms of stress though this method is not ideal in this case. Topical application of CBD is better for localized pain relief in muscles and joints and unless the patient is seeking those benefits specifically, they’re better off using one of the previous methods of ingestion.
- Transdermal Patches:
- Transdermal CBD patches are available and may offer up to 2 days of stress relief though it initially will take a few hours to be noticeable. This method is best for when the patient isn’t likely to have access to other means of administration for a few days but wants relief.
Wrapping Up
With lots of new research coming out that shine a light on CBD’s efficacy at treating a variety of conditions, most notably stress and anxiety, CBD is looking like a great investment opportunity for those looking to get into the market. Anxiety and stress are a huge social and financial burden and so by investing in CBD, this can be mitigated to an extent and as the market continues to grow, so will jobs, local economies, and business tax revenues which offer further societal improvements.
While it’s hard to argue with what results have come out some far regarding CBD’s stress relieving abilities, more research still needs to be completed in order to determine its long-term effects. When compared to other common pharmaceutical treatments for stress and anxiety, CBD is looking like a safe and viable alternative that is worth investigating further!
