Former Clorox and Burt’s Bees executive Phoebe Leppla is joining Open Book Extracts to lead the company’s product development efforts.
Leppla previously led research and development teams at Burt’s Bees, and she spent a decade at The Clorox Co. before that.
At Clorox, she specialized in “product innovation in cleaning, wellness, beauty and personal care,” according to a news release.
Based in Roxboro, North Carolina, Open Book makes bulk cannabinoid ingredients to sell to other manufacturers.
In her new role, Leppla will lead Open Book Extracts’ product development efforts in offering customers specialized cosmetic products and services.
“The consumer shouldn’t have to choose between beautiful or functional, or choose between a luxurious feeling lotion or CBD – why not both?” Leppla said in the release.
Open Book Extracts currently offers topicals, gummies, capsules and tinctures through its private label division.
