A Texas holding company that makes CBD is joining the market for hemp-based meat alternatives, with plans to manufacture the products in Montana.
Digital Development Partners of Flower Mound, Texas, maker of Grizzly Creek Naturals CBD products, says it has not yet settled on a location in Montana where it will manufacture the hemp protein products in a new division it calls Black Bird American Hemp.
Growing consumer demand for plant-based foods have given rise to a new crop of hemp-based food products ranging from gelato to protein bars.
National grocer Whole Foods Market, for example, offers tea, protein powder, granola and milk made from hemp.
Digital Development Partners has not elaborated on the meat alternatives it plans to manufacture from hemp. The company trades on over-the-counter markets as DGDM.
