Two more mainstream retailers have entered the CBD race this month, joining a multitude of other large retailers that carry CBD products, including grocery, convenience, cosmetics and clothing stores.

Dollar General will sell 20 different CBD products in 1,100 stores in Tennessee and Kentucky.

The discount retailer plans to expand CBD products to stores in Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Vermont by 2020, focusing on affordability, according to AL.com.

“As with many of the products we carry in our stores, our decision to offer CBD products is based on customer interests or demands,” Jason Reiser, Dollar General’s executive vice president and chief manufacturing officer, told AL.com.

Dollar General will carry only topical cosmetic products, including creams, ointments, bath bombs, bath salts and face masks. The retailer does not have plans to sell ingestibles, according to a company statement.

Dixie Brands, a Denver-based cannabis and consumer packaged goods company, said Tuesday that its wholly owned hemp subsidiary, AcesoHemp, is supplying its broad-spectrum, CBD-infused Heat and Cool Balms to Dollar General stores.

Meanwhile, Dick’s Sporting Goods, a sporting goods retailer based in Corapolis, Pennsylvania, picked up its first line of cannabidiol products, selling the CBD Sport Cream line from Englewood, Colorado-based CBD company Myaderm.

The transdermal CBD cream products are available in 200 Dick’s Sporting Goods and 35 Golf Galaxy stores nationwide.

“We are excited to now offer CBD products as part of our sports-medicine offering,” said Regan Drew, senior buyer for Dick’s Sporting Goods.

“Recovery is an important part of the athletic experience and a growing industry.”
