Lifestyle brand Weekend Unlimited Inc. (CSE: YOLO – FSE: 0OS1) recently announced it has entered into an arms-length agreement which provides the company with the option to acquire 49% of Northern Lights Supply, a retail cannabis store in Nisku, Alberta.
Cody Corrubia, President and CEO of Weekend Unlimited explains, “Northern Lights Supply is situated in Nisku, Alberta, at the intersection to Canada’s largest oilfield industrial park, along Alberta’s busiest corridor, Highway 2 and opposite the Edmonton International Airport.”
Northern Lights Supply was the first cannabis retail store in Nisku, and with 6,500 square feet of retail space, it is one of the largest approved in Alberta, designed to take advantage of the upcoming edible and infused cannabis products scheduled to be legal next fall.
Northern Lights Supply President, Derek Shields, says he’s excited to work with Weekend Unlimited, which allows him to grow his brand, “Their experience will be invaluable in recognizing the numerous opportunities in this new and emerging industry.”
The store is currently gearing up for its grand opening in early December.
Although this is Weekend Unlimited’s first retail foray into Canada, the company already has a strong presence in the country due to its acquisition of Northern Lights Organics (no relation) in October.
Northern Lights Organics will be Canada’s first high CBD-focused hemp and cannabis farm, growing in certified organic soils with final products certified organic, on 300 acres dedicated to outdoor hemp production.
Weekend Unlimited aggregates and scales small to medium brands, primarily in the categories of flower, extracts, and edibles, and its move into the Canadian retail market will allow it to showcase its already diverse and expanding product brands.
The company has recently announced LOI’s with intent to acquire Verve energy drink and California-based Canna Candys & Canna Medibles, giving it an entry into the rapidly-growing CBD and THC-infused edible and beverage markets, and R&D Pharma, a Tier 3 licensed cannabis cultivator located in Jamaica.
The company also operates Orchard Heights Growers, a Tier 3 producer/processor in central Washington state, Jerome Baker Designs, which creates custom glass art, most notably “Bongzilla”, the world’s largest bong.
It has also launched Weekend Unlimited Live this fall, a live-event concept featuring concerts, music festivals, exclusive parties, destination travel, sports, charity and other special branded events to raise the profile of its product brands.
