U.S. Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., reintroduced his Marijuana 1-to-3 Act Jan. 26 to reschedule cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III under Controlled Substances Act.

The legislation, H.R. 610, has been referred to the House Energy and Commerce and Judiciary Committees.

This is the third year that Steube has introduced legislation to reschedule cannabis; he filed similar bills in 2019 and 2021.

This year’s filing follows President Joe Biden’s October 2022 announcement that he would pardon thousands of people with previous federal cannabis possession charges, urge governors to do the same at the level, and request that the secretary of Health and Human Services and U.S. attorney general review cannabis’ Schedule I status.

Steube’s previous bills aimed at cannabis rescheduling ultimately stalled and never received a hearing.
