Cleveland, Ohio (Aug. 7, 2018) – Cannabis Business Times and Cannabis Dispensary received finalist nominations in Folio:’s annual Eddie & Ozzie Awards, which honor the best in publishing, journalism and design.
Cannabis Business Times Managing Editor Cassie Neiden was named a finalist in the awards program’s “Editor of the Year” category.
Cannabis Dispensary was named a finalist in the awards program’s “Best New Magazine Design” category.
The two magazines’ parent company, GIE Media Inc., also received a finalist nomination for its Horticulture Group Media Kit, which includes the work of the CBT and CD staffs.
Neiden joined the Cannabis Business Times team as managing editor in February 2017. Previously, she worked as the associate editor for GIE Media Horticulture Group’s sister publications, Greenhouse Management, Garden Center and Produce Grower, where she covered topics ranging from greenhouse design, integrated pest management (IPM), horticultural lighting, urban agriculture and more. Neiden is an alumna of Kent State University’s School of Journalism & Mass Communication with a bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism.
“Cassie’s leadership as managing editor of Cannabis Business Times and Cannabis Dispensary has been an inspiration to our growing team,” Editorial Director Noelle Skodzinski said. “Cassie’s unwavering dedication and knowledge help guide our editorial vision and goals as we continue to provide the highest-quality content to help cannabis cultivation and dispensary businesses thrive in this challenging industry.”
Cannabis Dispensary’s award-winning design is led by Art Director Justin Armburger, who joined GIE Media in October 2013. He also serves as the art director for Lawn & Landscape, another GIE Media publication. Prior to joining GIE Media, Armburger worked as a lead designer at The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pa. In 2010, he received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Kent State University, where he is an adjunct professor of design. Armburger’s work also helped earn Cannabis Dispensary national recognition for Best New Publication Design from the American Society of Business Publication Editors in 2018.
“Justin has contributed significantly to the successful reception Cannabis Dispensary has had among dispensaries throughout North America, leading the design and visual representation of CD since the magazine’s launch in November 2017,” Creative Director Jim Blayney said. “His work at GIE has been terrific, and the vibrant pages of Cannabis Dispensary are a sterling example of his dedication.”
The winners will be announced at the annual Eddie & Ozzie Awards gala Oct. 9 at the Hilton Midtown in New York City. Earlier that day, a luncheon event will feature Folio:’s 2018 “Rising Stars,” a prestigious list that includes Neiden and Cannabis Business Times graphic designer Katelyn Boyden.
