Black-owned Boston marijuana store looted in what owners call a ‘targeted’ attack amid protests
They say robbers knew shop layout; more than $100,000 of cannabis taken
Pure Oasis, the first Black-run marijuana store to open in Massachusetts, was looted early Monday morning in what its owners are calling a “targeted attack” that coincided with the protests that rocked Boston.
Kobie Evans, the co-owner of the shop in the Grove Hall neighborhood, said at least a dozen people entered Pure Oasis after someone broke through the window and opened the front door from the inside around 1:43 a.m.
Several small groups forced their way into a back storeroom, he told the Globe after reviewing security camera footage, making off with about 2,000 pre-rolled joints and 2,000 pre-packaged containers of marijuana flower worth well over $100,000 at retail prices. [Read More @ The Boston Globe]

Bay Area Cannabis Dispensaries Looted During Protests
The owner of a downtown Oakland cannabis dispensary said as many as 10 people broke into his business on Friday night and made off with thousands of dollars of products.
The front entryway to the ECO Cannabis store on Telegraph Avenue was shut Friday night, equipped with an elaborate security system to keep track of any activity. Later that evening, owner Kevin Ahaesy said it was broken into.
“They also had a lot of cannabis paraphernalia on, like sweatshirts and t-shirts, so they were looking to get free cannabis, and they got it,” he told KCBS Radio.
Ahaesy preferred not to say how much his losses were, except that it was ‘a lot’. He believes the robbers took advantage of the rioting going on downtown, but weren’t necessarily outsiders. [Read [email protected]]

Chicago marijuana dispensaries close indefinitely
The bulletproof security glass inside Mission South Shore marijuana dispensary was supposed to be impenetrable. But it gave way Sunday afternoon to looters armed with crowbars and baseball bats.
They smashed through the front door first, then hacked away at the security glass, said Kris Krane, president and co-founder of 4Front Ventures, which owns the dispensary in the South Chicago neighborhood. Everything of value was taken, including the marijuana.
“The store’s been pretty much ransacked,” said Krane, who watched security camera footage of 30 or 40 people breaking into the dispensary. “Nothing was going to hold that many people back.”
Every dispensary in Chicago is closed indefinitely to prevent or clean up from weekend looting and vandalizing, fallout from George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis last week. The closures could cause problems for medical patients whose supplies run low. [Read more at The Chicago Tribune]

More looting and arrests amid peaceful protests in L.A.
day of largely peaceful protests Monday over police brutality and the death of George Floyd ended with another series of looting incidents focused mostly in Van Nuys and Hollywood.
Demonstrations big and small occurred around California as the movement ignited by Floyd’s death show no signs of slowing.
But police continued to deal with people who appeared to use the protests as an opportunity to break into stores and steal merchandise.
But unlike on Friday and Saturday nights, the Los Angeles Police Department moved rapidly on various scenes and it appeared dozens were arrested. [Read More @ The LA Times]

Medical marijuana provider delays opening of Main Line dispensary, temporarily closes two vandalized city sites
Jushi Holdings Inc., the Florida-based company that owns and operates the Beyond / Hello medical marijuana dispensaries in the Philadelphia area, delayed plans to open its seventh site in Pennsylvania Monday after having to temporarily close two of its Philadelphia dispensaries because of the looting and vandalism that took place in the city over the weekend.
A grand opening for the new Ardmore dispensary location, at 35 Cricket Ave. near Suburban Square and a couple blocks from the Ardmore SEPTA and Amtrak Station, will now be held at a late date.
The company’s Beyond / Hello dispensaries in Center City on Sansom Street and in North Liberties were among the retail sites in the city damaged Saturday and Sunday when protests held in response to the killing of an African American man by Minneapolis police turned violent.
