American Cannabis Operator Index Declines 7.4% in January

The American Cannabis Operator Index began 2022 with its 11th consecutive decline, falling 7.4% to 38.62:
January’s performance follows a Q4 decline of 23.4%. After gaining 45.7% in 2020, when it ended at 63.05, the index was down 33.9% in 2021:
The index, which launched at the end of October 2018 with a value of 100, reached a closing high of 124.16 a week later before declining to 70.64 in late December 2018. It then rallied as high as 119.53 in early April 2019 before selling off over the balance of the year and into March 2020. It has rebounded 166.3% from an all-time closing low on March 18, 2020 at 14.50:
During January, the index included 20 companies, including 15 multi-state operators (MSOs), two single-state operators (SSOs) and 3 focused solely on CBD extracted from industrial hemp. 5 companies posted gains, while 4 declined by more than 20% during the month, with a median return of -8.7%:
The four best performing stocks in December included Glass House Brands (NEO: GLAS.A.U) (OTC: GLASF), Jushi Holdings (CSE: JUSH) (OTC: JUSHF), Grove, Inc. (NASDAQ: GRVI) and TPCO Holding (NEO: GRAM.U) (OTC: GRAMF)
The four worst performing stocks during the month included 4Front Ventures (CSE: FFNT) (OTC: FFNTF), Ascend Wellness (CSE: AAWH.U) (OTC: AAWH), Trulieve (CSE: TRUL) (OTC: TCNNF) and Green Thumb Industries (CSE: GTII) (OTC: GTBIF).
For February, the index will include 19 stocks following, with the deletion of Acreage Holdings (CSE: ACRG.A.U) (OTC: ACRHF), which no longer met the minimum volume requirement.
