A provision in one of the congressional spending bills would continue to protect state-legal medical cannabis programs from federal interference. It was included for the first time in the initial FY2020 Commerce-Justice-Science funding bill released by a House subcommittee.

​The California Senate has voted to allow special banks to handle money from legal marijuana retailers. Recreational marijuana use has been legal in California since January 2018, but is still illegal under federal law.

BOSTON — One of the biggest problems small entrepreneurs have had starting marijuana businesses in Massachusetts is a lack of money. Starting a business is expensive, and traditional loans and financing options are generally not available because of federal prohibition.

Escalating a feud with cities over marijuana, state lawmakers are pushing to require municipalities to lift bans on cannabis stores if voters there supported Proposition 64, the 2016 initiative that legalized sale of the drug for recreational use in California.

Medical marijuana patients in Michigan can now get their medicine delivered to their door. State officials issued the first three home delivery licenses last week to provisioning centers in Detroit and Portage.
