The increased demand for Kratom has led to a wider selection of products available to consumers. Now, you can find everything from Kratom capsules to Kratom shots and more.

Important Considerations When Purchasing Kratom Online

When you decide to buy Kratom online, there are several key factors to keep in mind. Firstly, it is crucial to choose a reputable source, preferably a licensed and certified supplier, to ensure the quality and authenticity of the product. Look for organic and pure Kratom without any additives or fillers. Additionally, consider the specific strain of Kratom that suits your needs, as each strain has its own distinct characteristics. Lastly, be aware of the appropriate serving sizes and dosage for a safe and effective Kratom experience.

Once you have compiled a list of potential Kratom vendors that offer the products you desire, it’s time to evaluate them to determine their legitimacy and suitability for your needs.

Here are some essential questions to consider when assessing each vendor:

 • Do they adhere to industry best practices and quality assurance programs?
 • Are they compliant with the relevant regulations, such as the American Kratom Association’s GMP program?
 • Are they transparent about their sourcing? If not, it is advisable to reach out to their customer support for more information.
 • Do they offer reasonable pricing for their products?
 • What do their past customers say? Check reviews to gauge customer satisfaction.
 • Do they have customer-friendly shipping and returns policies?
 • Do they provide incentives such as coupons, loyalty programs, or bulk discounts?
 • Ask these questions for each vendor on your list and compare their responses to determine which one is the most suitable for your requirements.

Additional Tips

Here are a few extra tips to make your search for the right Kratom vendor easier or to verify the credibility of your chosen vendor:

Tip 1: Seek Recommendations from Friends

If you have friends who are Kratom users, inquire about their experiences and preferences. Their insights can provide valuable information about different vendors, Kratom strains, and other relevant factors. Pay attention to factors such as consistency, potency, alkaloid content, and overall satisfaction.

Tip 2: Consider Local Vendors

Choosing a vendor based in your country can be advantageous as they are subject to local regulations and health codes. This ensures that the products adhere to specific standards and requirements.

Tip 3: Check Reviews

Third-party review websites are reliable sources of information about Kratom vendors. If a vendor consistently receives positive reviews across different platforms, it is generally a good indicator of their reliability.

Take your time to select the right Kratom vendor, as your entire experience will depend on the quality of the products and services they provide.

Is it Safe to Buy Kratom Online?

The safety of purchasing Kratom online depends on the website you choose. However, in general, buying Kratom from reputable online vendors is considered safe. Online vendors often provide superior-quality products compared to local head shops or gas stations. To ensure your safety, conduct thorough research on the vendor’s reliability and the quality of their Kratom products. Check reviews and certifications from trusted third-party sources. It is advisable to avoid websites that lack transparency about their sourcing, receive numerous negative reviews, lack certifications, or have questionable pricing practices. The three vendors mentioned above are reliable options to consider.

What About Buying Kratom from Local Stores?

Physical stores selling Kratom products do exist, but the quality and consistency of these products may vary. Online purchases are generally preferred by most Kratom consumers due to the more consistent quality found online.

Is Kratom Legal in the United States?

The legality of Kratom in the United States is a complex issue. While Kratom is not classified as a controlled substance in all states, some have implemented laws that prohibit its purchase, possession, or use. Additionally, the DEA has labeled Kratom as a “drug of concern” due to its potential for abuse and addiction. On the other hand, certain states have recognized its potential medicinal benefits and have established limited legalization or regulated sales. Although Kratom is legal in the majority of the US, some states maintain complete bans. It is essential to be aware of and comply with the laws in your region to avoid any legal issues.

Conclusion

Shopping for Kratom online can be daunting, especially for beginners. With numerous vendors, strains, and product types available, it can be overwhelming. This article aims to provide guidance on what to consider when purchasing Kratom online. The most important aspect is to ensure that the vendor is certified by the American Kratom Association (AKA).

The AKA certification indicates that a vendor meets stringent standards for quality and safety. It also offers consumer education on the potential benefits and risks of Kratom and provides vendors with up-to-date information on safety, quality, and regulations. By choosing a certified vendor, you can have confidence in the safety and quality of the Kratom you purchase.

Everything feels more romantic when you’ve reached that perfect balance of relaxation and arousal. And if you haven’t tried it before, a couple of hits can definitely enhance the experience.

Just as some cannabis strains have a reputation for “locking” you to your couch, there are a variety of strains that can give you subtle energy, a confidence boost, and relaxation to heighten your romantic experience and culminate in an incredibly sensual encounter.

When choosing which strain to use on date night, you may initially rely on the two overarching cannabis categories to decide how you want to feel; indica for relaxation and sativa for energy. However, the nuances of each strain and how it will affect you are also influenced by terpenes, the compounds that create those distinct strain aromas.

With these nuances in mind, we’re outlining 10 cannabis strains of both indica and sativa varieties that could be your perfect aphrodisiac for an erotic night with your special someone.

Atomic Northern Lights

This indica-dominant hybrid helps you relax and heightens arousal, making it a great choice for unwinding with your partner after a long day at work.

Blue Dream

Potent but balanced, this strain gives a tasty blueberry buzz with all the great energy of its high sativa content. Then you’ll drop into a serious calm or even numb state, so make sure you take your hits right before the action starts.

Bubblegum Kush

This indica-dominant strain comes on slowly, but its long-lasting effects leave your senses heightened to every touch, and your mind and body relaxed.

Dark Milk Loves Chocolate

These chocolate edibles were explicitly designed for romantic arousal. They combine five herbal aphrodisiacs with sensory-heightening cannabis. Although we don’t generally recommend edibles for romance since they take longer to kick in, this is one tantalizing exception! Just make sure to enjoy your chocolates about 2 hours before you want the action to start.

Flo

Flo is a sativa-dominant hybrid that gives you that classic hit of energy while still offering relaxation. It’s balanced and mild and lets you really get into the moment without getting lost in the high.

Granddaddy Purple

This strain is very indica-heavy, so don’t take too much. But it’s incredibly popular for leaving you feeling relaxed, creative, and euphoric. Granddaddy Purple is the king of getting into the flow and mellowing any potential inhibitions for a relaxed night with your sweetheart.

Green Crack

Aromatic and refreshing, Green Crack gives you a burst of energy while soothing away stress and worry. This is the strain to take for your all-nighters, if you catch our drift.

Sour Dream

A hybrid of Blue Dream and Sour Diesel, this sativa-dominant hybrid builds your energy and inspires giddiness, so be prepared for a fit of giggles in bed.

Super Sour Diesel

Sativa-dominant and sensory-enhancing, Sour D is popular for good reason. You’ll have both the confident relaxation and the exciting headrush that can prepare you for romantic action.

Ultimate Trainwreck

A sativa-dominant hybrid with high THC content, Ultimate Trainwreck heightens arousal and euphoria. What more do we need to say? But really, this strain will give you an initial burst of energy and clarity, followed by a more profound relaxation. If you time it right, Ultimate Trainwreck could fit nicely with the rhythm of your evening.

Other great cannabis products for romance include a wide variety of THC and CBD-infused lubes & massage oils. Why not make it a complete cannabis-inspired night?

Before you start, ensure your romantic evening goes off without a hitch by trying a new strain to ensure it makes you feel the way you want it to. It’s also best to start with only a couple of hits the night of your rendezvous.

Finding the right balance when using marijuana can be tricky for regular smokers and beginners alike. With flower becoming more potent and concentrated substances like oil and wax growing in popularity, finding the perfect Cannabis high takes patience and practice.

While large amounts of flower might require high-tolerance users to catch a buzz, it’s easy for anyone to overindulge in edibles or extracts. Below, we’ve created the ultimate guide to finding your ideal Cannabis high. Regardless of your THC tolerance level or preferred ingestion method, you can dial in your experience with these helpful tips.

Tips for Flower Users

Although THC content in flower has grown, there are ways to pace yourself and specific strains to pick to achieve the desired feelings. Small pipes like spoons and chillums are the best way to start smoking flower. Hits are more manageable for beginners, and they won’t be as concentrated as bong or bubbler tokes.

Strains will also play a large role in having mind and body effects. Newcomers should gravitate towards lower THC content strains like Blue Dream or Jack Herer, with THC percentages typically in the teens. If your tolerance is low, stick with pipes and take one or two hits every 10 to 15 minutes – this will allow plenty of time to feel the effects and moderate the experience.

Avid smokers pay close attention to THC content, and top-shelf options are now pushing 30%. Look for classics like Kosher Kush and GSC when in the market for potent plant material, and grab the bong for instant intoxication.

Sativa-dominant strains like Durban Poison will sub-in well for your morning cup of coffee, providing an uplifting, energetic high. Indica-dominant varieties are best suited for evening use. Kosher Kush, mentioned above, and Death Star are famous indicas that provide heavy sedation effects and relax body highs.

Finding the Perfect Edible High

The edible market is growing faster than any other industry segment, but proper consumption of these products remains extremely misunderstood by most of the public.

When Cannabis is consumed by smoking or vaping, the cannabinoids act directly with receptors in your brain to create instantaneous results. Edibles must be digested and processed by the liver, taking much longer to kick in and often lasting longer than other ingestion methods.

Newcomers to THC and edibles will want to take a cautious approach during the first couple of attempts. Start with a small dose, typically under 5mg, and wait a few hours before ingesting more. Eating fatty foods about an hour before can help speed up the digestive process and will provide cannabinoids more surfaces on which to bond.

Most pre-made edibles contain 10mg of THC per item, but stronger options exist for higher-tolerance users. It can often take 100mg, or more for heavy users to get their desired high, but lower dosing and adding on are still recommended in these cases. Taking edibles on an empty stomach will significantly delay results, so plan consumption around planned meals.

If common edibles aren’t enough, consider extract capsules for the market’s most potent and discrete option. These capsules are similar to gelcap pills and deliver enormous amounts of THC in a small package.

Tips on Coming Down from a Cannabis High

Almost every consumer of marijuana has a story of the time they used too much. Luckily, these stories typically end with long naps, and it’s important to remember that although you feel way too high, you’re not in any real danger.

There are also quick and easy ways to mellow out the experience if you’ve gone too far. CBD tinctures and vape products have essentially become the antidote to getting too high. With a couple of drops under your tongue or a quick hit, CBD will bond to your brain’s cannabinoid receptors and limit their interaction with the THC in your system. These products’ effects aren’t immediate, but many users feel better after just a few minutes.

Other ways to come down are a bit more traditional and are most effective when you’ve smoked or vaped THC. Eating a large meal will often dull the effects of THC and help users feel more like themselves. Taking a shower or swimming is popular with avid smokers. The water can intensify effects at times, but most users feel back to normal upon exit. Physical activity also takes your mind off the impact, and working up a sweat is almost guaranteed to bring you down.

With so many products to choose from, some experimentation and trial and error will be required. Thoroughly research strains and their effects before buying and keep doses low and slow when starting. With some practice, you’ll find the perfect high every time you toke.

Enhance Your Movie Experience With These 5 Strains https://mjshareholders.com/enhance-your-movie-experience-with-these-5-strains/ Sun, 30 Oct 2022 02:45:48 +0000 https://www.thecannifornian.com/?p=21983 Cannabis goes along with the movie theater experience like buttered popcorn, Skittles, and giant cups of Coke.

There are few activities as satisfying as watching a new flick on the big screen — especially now that the world is opening back up and theaters along with it. And cannabis goes along with the movie theater experience like buttered popcorn, Skittles, and giant cups of Coke.

A Miner and Co. Studio survey showed that cannabis users said that consuming the plant increased their interest in whatever they were watching and boosted their attention span.

What strains are best to consume before sitting in that comfy recliner seat you reserved at the local megaplex? Likely a hybrid strain — something that keeps you invested in what you’re watching but also relaxes you so you can chill out to the max.

Here are the top five strains we recommend:

GG4

This strain, also known as Gorilla Glue, Original Glue, and simply Glue, is an award-winner known for its euphoric and couch-locking effects (think glue + couch).

“Relaxed” and “hungry” are two of the top effects listed by consumers of the strain according to the authoritative cannabis website and database, Leafly.

This is a versatile option but could be best for a super-hero or action film.

Blue Dream

Among the most famous hybrid strains, Blue Dream is perfect for the movies thanks to its “cerebral stimulation and full-body relaxation,” as described in Leafly.

“Creative” and “uplifted” are two of the most common user descriptions of the sativa-dominant strain in the Leafly database.

This strain may be best for a plot-twisting mystery or thriller.

Do-Si-Dos

Likely named after the Girl Scout cookies, Do-Si-Dos are an indica-dominant hybrid strain that provide an immediate heavy hit. AllBud describes the high as a: “cerebral rush of euphoric energy…before fading into a happy stoney introspection.” If that doesn’t make you want to take a few hits before you walk into the theater, we don’t know what will.

“Relaxed” and “hungry” are two of the most common feelings reported by Leafly users. This strain is probably best for a “popcorn flick” with plenty of entertainment value but not as thought-provoking.

Photo: Svitlana Ponurkina via 123RF
Photo: Svitlana Ponurkina via 123RF

Apple Fritter

Like the pastry, this hybrid is reportedly delicious and uplifting but with enough weight to keep you locked to your chair. This strain is probably perfect for a comedy as “relaxed,” “tingly,” and “giggly” are the three top feelings reported by Leafly users.

White Widow

This is another well-known and popular hybrid born in the 1990s.

Wikileaf touts the strain’s “quick-acting cerebral effects.” Adding that users can be “tuned into sounds and patterns that may have gone unnoticed before.”

“Energetic” and “creative” are two of the top feelings associated with the strain, according to user reports in the Leafly database.

White Widow is probably best for something a little more avant-garde that requires some creative thinking to understand. It makes for great conversation over dinner after the credits roll.

Whether you’re out to catch the latest thriller, romcom, or indie art flick, consider one of these five strains before you sit down and lock yourself in for the ride.

But remember, always consume responsibly — public consumption of cannabis is banned in every legal state, as is driving under the influence.

May we recommend a ride-hailing service like Lyft or Uber or even a nice walk if you live within a reasonable distance?

Enjoy the show!

‘In the Body:’ Indica Strains Are Known for Their Relaxing High https://mjshareholders.com/in-the-body-indica-strains-are-known-for-their-relaxing-high/ Wed, 24 Aug 2022 00:45:14 +0000 https://www.thecannifornian.com/?p=21914 Generally considered to be two different species of the same plant, people have for decades seen sativa and indica strains as two completely different beasts regarding their effects

The post ‘In the Body:’ Indica Strains Are Known for Their Relaxing High appeared first on The Cannifornian.

]]>
Terminology can be confusing when it comes to cannabis. Talk of terpenes and cannabinoids is all the rage today. Still, for ages, people focused primarily on one vital question: Is the strain you’re about to smoke an indica or a sativa?

Generally considered to be two different species of the same plant, people have for decades seen sativa and indica strains as two completely different beasts regarding their effects.

Today, there’s a movement away from defining strains simply as indica or sativa and toward “chemotype,” a strain defined by its actual chemical composition. For example, a strain that’s technically an indica may provide an effect more like the stereotypical sativa high depending on the cannabinoids and terpenes it possesses.

But it will likely take years for such complexities to be understood by your average, casual consumer (if they ever are). That’s why dispensaries and edibles manufacturers still primarily describe their products in a way their customers will understand: indica and sativa. It’s essential to understand what those labels are widely believed to mean. That way, you know what to expect. In this article, we’ll focus on cannabis indica, starting with the plant itself:

Plant Characteristics

There is some disagreement about whether or not the cannabis indica plant is a different species than the cannabis sativa, but they typically look different.

Cannabis indica plants are typically short, dense, and have a bushier appearance with wide and short leaves compared to the typical cannabis sativa plant. Cannabis sativa plants are typically more tree-like in comparison.

Indica plants grow naturally in the Middle East and Asia mountains, where the climate is dry. Cannabis indica is traditionally the source of the famous hashish (resin) produced in India and Morocco.

Thanks to its native inhospitable growing climate, cannabis indica plants have a relatively fast growing cycle—half that of some cannabis sativa strains. It takes about seven weeks for an indica to flower and be ready for harvesting.

Indica Strains

Indica’s Effects

The stereotypical indica high is a “body high,” meaning you’ll primarily feel it in the body as opposed to the more cerebral, creative effects in a sativa strain. Here’s a trick on how to remember this: Indica is felt “in-da-body,” while you can think of the first two letters of “sativa” standing for “stay awake.”

The body high is often a heavy feeling that’s perfect for relaxation, sleep, and pain relief. Just know: You might not want to leave the couch! Indica is also thought to stimulate the appetite or be more likely to give you “the munchies”— a good or bad thing, depending on who you are.

Popular Indica Strains

Northern Lights is quite possibly the most famous strain of cannabis, period, let alone indica. Cannabis database Leafly calls its effects “euphoric” and says it relaxes muscles while “easing the mind.”

Also popular among indica fans: anything purple. And when we say “purple,” we literally mean the flower has blue, red, or purple hues. Helpfully, the word is typically in the strain’s name too. So, whether you’re going for Purple Trainwreck, Purple Punch, or Grizzly Purple Kush, you can expect a high THC count (upward of 24% in some cases) and a body high that could leave you couch-locked with a bag of chips in your lap.

These days, Kush is giving Northern Lights a run for its money in popularity. The earthy-tasting, body-relaxing OG Kush strain has been combined in so many forms that it’s hard to keep up! There’s Bubba Kush, Pre-98 Bubba Kush, Commerce City Kush, King Louis OG, and even Charlie Sheen OG

Kush’s diversity and popularity are apparent in its celebration within hip-hop culture.

To sum up, the way we understand weed is changing, but the simplest way to categorize it is by its two most common species: indica and sativa. That’s how you’ll see it labeled at most retail stores or dispensaries and in everyday conversation with casual smokers.

Indica is known for its bushy appearance and body high and comes in the form of many popular strains you’ll hear about in stoner movies and hip-hop tracks. The more you know!

From Poison to Purple: 5 Sativa Strains You Have to Try https://mjshareholders.com/from-poison-to-purple-5-sativa-strains-you-have-to-try/ Wed, 27 Jul 2022 12:44:52 +0000 https://www.thecannifornian.com/?p=21846 Here are five sativa strains that are guaranteed to meet or even exceed their stereotypes. Read up and then hit your local retailer.

There’s a debate within the world of cannabis about the “old” ways of labeling the different plant strains “The Entourage Effect” concept is making its way into the mainstream. The Entourage Effect posits that it’s less about indica versus sativa—the former famous for its body high and the latter for its uplifting, energetic, creative high—and more about more intricate details of the plant.

Cannabinoids like CBD, CBG, and CBN join forces with the terpenes that give each strain its unique flavor and color to create each strain’s individual effects, the theory says.

Some take it a step further and say that it doesn’t matter whether a strain is an indica or sativa. If the terpenes and cannabinoids line up correctly, a sativa could give you couch-lock while an indica could help you write that novella you’ve been putting off for months.

Still, there’s a reason that indica and sativa strains have the reputations they do—and there are no signs that retailers or their customers are rushing to redefine their favorite plant after centuries of experimentation.

With that in mind, here are five sativa strains that are guaranteed to meet or even exceed their stereotypes:

Sour Diesel

If a strain has the word “sour” or “diesel” in it, you know you’re in for an energetic ride. Sour Diesel is a cross of the Chemdawg and Super Skunk strains. Its 19% THC rate is almost guaranteed to get you going. The strain gained popularity in the early ’90s, and it remains popular today. It’s no surprise then that the top effect listed by Leafly’s user base is “energetic.”

Durban Poison

Durban Poison has a reputation for being among the most energetic of the pure sativas, and it’s not for the faint of heart. “Those who struggle with anxiety and paranoia should probably steer clear,” according to culture website Thrillist. The strain was originally exported from the South African city Durban and boasts a 19% THC rate. Its top effect is also listed as “energetic” at Leafly.

Green Crack

If the name didn’t give it away, the Green Crack strain is renowned for its energetic high. “Few strains compare to Green Crack’s sharp energy and focus as it induces an invigorating mental buzz that keeps you going through the day,” says Leafly, whose users rate its top effect as—you guessed it—”energetic.”

Purple Haze

We’ve taken you back to the ’90s. Now, let’s go seriously old school with Purple Haze, a strain rock legend Jimi Hendrix arguably made famous in his band’s 1967 track, “Purple Haze.” That track also contains some of Hendrix’s most famous lyrics: “Purple haze all in my brain. Lately, things just don’t seem the same. Acting funny, but I don’t know why. Excuse me while I kiss the sky.” Leafly says Purple Haze “delivers a dreamy burst of euphoria that brings veteran consumers back to their psychedelic heyday.” There might just be something to that.

Mimosa

Bringing you back to the current decade, allow us to introduce you to Mimosa—the 2020 High Times Cannabis Cup winner for the state of Oregon. Leafly says: “In small doses, this strain produces happy, level-headed effects that will leave you feeling uplifted and motivated enough to take on any mundane task.” But in what could be a win for proponents of The Entourage Effect, “In large doses, Mimosa may make you feel sleepy and relaxed.” A popular description on the Leafly site is “Creative.”

If you’re looking for a top-tier selection of sativas virtually guaranteed to get you going—at work, school, or play—hit your local retailer, grab an eighth of one on this list, and you’ll be good to go!

The hot days are getting longer, and you’re getting thirsty!

A cannabis-infused beverage that mimics the predictable, fast-acting effects of alcohol is the Holy Grail of the cannabis industry. Multinational liquor brands are positioning themselves for a long-predicted federally legal U.S. market.

As of now, 18 U.S. states—plus Washington, D.C., Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands—have legalized adult-use (or recreational) cannabis within their borders as of May 2022. Several bills making their way through Congress to legalize the plant are in various stages. Meanwhile, scientific work continues before cannabis beverages will give you that quick buzz you get while sipping a strong alcoholic beverage at a bar.

But we’re getting closer. Here are some of the best cannabis beverages out there. And while we couldn’t exactly hit every legal state—primarily because they’re still working out the details of their adult-use rules (or are just plain weird)—we touch on all of them and even squeeze in a few medical-only states.

Ripple

Colorado and Michigan

Denver-based Ripple is known for its fast-acting formulas in both gummies and dissolvables. In fact, a 2021 study by academics at Colorado State University found that its products “hit” users much faster—as quickly as twice as fast—than other market-leading consumables. Ripple’s QuickDissolves products come discreetly in powder form, which you can then add to a soda, beer, bottle of water, or glass of wine. Quick Dissolves are as close to flavorless as cannabis products come. Ripple can be found at cannabis retail outlets in Michigan and Colorado.

Keef

Arizona, California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Maine, Missouri, and Puerto Rico

Another Denver-based company with a much bigger footprint is Keef. Keef is a cannabis concentrates manufacturer that also makes canned, spiked soda. Whether you’re looking for traditional cola and root beer flavors or something more exotic like Blackberry Coconut and Purple Passion, Keef’s got you covered—and in a wide variety of locales. You can purchase Keef legally in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Maine, Missouri, and Puerto Rico (medical only). If you’re heading up north, you’ll find Keef in Ontario and Saskatchewan, Canada.

Cann

Illinois, Nevada, Rhode Island, and New Jersey

Several emerging cannabis markets are the first outside of California to access Cann, a “social tonic” manufactured by Chicago-based cannabis giant Green Thumb Industries. The beverage, made of not-from-concentrate fruit juice and organic agave nectar, is dosed at just 2 milligrams of THC and CBD. It was already a big hit in The Golden State. Illinois, Nevada, Rhode Island, and New Jersey, which just opened up its adult-use cannabis market in April, will enjoy the beverage in its three flavors—Lemon Lavender, Grapefruit Rosemary, and Blood Orange Cardamom—following a recently-announced expansion.

Good Feels

Massachusetts

If you’re in Massachusetts and feel left out, have no worries: Good Feels is here for you. The minority-owned, Medway-based company just dropped four THC-infused seltzers and two “beverage enhancers” in flavors like Black Cherry, Raspberry Apple, Lemon Lime, and even “Flavorless.” Each 12-ounce bottle is infused with 3 milligrams of THC and 2 milligrams of CBD for a mellow buzz that’s meant to be fast-acting. Good Feels’ packaging is also sustainable—sold in “infinitely recyclable glass bottles within a carbon-neutral facility using 100% renewable energy,” according to the company.

Wync

Arizona, Maine, Michigan, Massachusetts, Missouri and Oklahoma, Ohio, and Arkansas

Wync THC and Seltzer, which calls itself “the most widely distributed cannabis seltzer beverage in the United States,” just launched in New Mexico—one of the newest legal markets. With flavors like Juicy Mango, Lime Twist, and Black Cherry Fizz, these low-dose beverages that contain 2.5 milligrams each of THC and CBD are also available in rec states Arizona, Maine, Michigan, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Wync’s seltzer can also is available in medical-only states Ohio and Arkansas.

You missed my state!

Oregon, Montana, Alaska, Vermont, New York, Virginia, Connecticut, Washington, D.C.

Some states are too new, too small, or just plain weird. Here’s the breakdown of the remaining legal adult-use states.

Very few multistate cannabis beverage brands appear to be available in Oregon. Among the most popular cannabis-infused beverages is a cannabis concentrate made using frozen plants that naturally maintain many of the cannabinoids (CBD, for example) added (separately) to the previously listed beverages. Magic Number beverages come in Lime, Berry, Passion Fruit, and Tonic flavors.

One of Washington state’s most popular brands, Major, is “designed to deliver high doses of THC in a small 6.7 fluid-ounce juice beverage,” according to the company. Its motto is, “Major packs a major punch.” It comes in Orange Mango, Pink Lemonade, Blue Raspberry, Passion Fruit, and Grape flavors.

Montana’s top beverage’s motto is “Skip the seltzer. Grab a Sinful.” Sinful Beverages’ flavors include Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, Huckleberry Lemonade, and Sweet Mango. Watch out, though: Each bottle contains 85 milligrams of THC.

Alaska’s Fire Eater is like an energy drink, but with 5 milligrams of THC. It comes in Orange, Pineapple, and Strawberry flavors.

In Vermont, cannabis is recreationally legal, but there’s nowhere to buy it. This is expected to change this year.

New York has yet to fully spell out or implement its recreational cannabis rules, leading to mass confusion and frustration.

Virginia is a brand-new legal state (and the first in the South), but a regulated market won’t launch until 2024.

Connecticut, meanwhile, is still doling out licenses for infused products.

Washington, D.C., meanwhile, allows possession of cannabis, but not the sale of it.

Wherever you live, have fun and be safe as you enjoy the cocktail legal for you to consume.

Why Does Marijuana Smell Like a Skunk? https://mjshareholders.com/why-does-marijuana-smell-like-a-skunk/ Sun, 17 Jul 2022 02:45:09 +0000 https://www.thecannifornian.com/?p=21831 The cannabis plant is known—and even celebrated—for its distinctive skunky odor. It wasn’t long ago that a distinct, sulfury skunk-like odor seeping through your car’s air vents likely meant one thing: a skunk. The mammal is known for its protective, foul-smelling anal spray—was nearby, possibly hit by a car on the highway.

But over the past 10 years, 18 U.S. states have legalized the sale and use of recreational cannabis (and nearly 40 have some form of medical marijuana). So, it’s just as likely that the “skunky” odor you smell driving through certain areas is coming from a new kind of source: a legal marijuana grow.

Do People Like Their Marijuana to Smell Like a Skunk?

Yes, the cannabis plant is known—and even celebrated—for its distinctive skunky odor. You can find references to the pungent smell in marijuana strain names like Skunkberry, White Super Skunk, and Thelonious Skunk.

And you can find references to it in lyrics by famous cannabis enthusiasts like the rap trio Cypress Hill.

“Skunk” strains are celebrated for their relaxation-inducing mellow and heavy highs, which many people believe help with mood disorders and anxiety.

But what exactly causes your weed to smell like a skunk? Well, thanks to nearly a century of federal cannabis prohibition making most studies of the plant illegal, we don’t know for sure. But experts do have some ideas—and some of those theories involve one of beer’s most essential ingredients: hops.

The Theories

Terpenes: Terpenes are a relatively new area of focus for most cannabis companies and producers. Terpenes are natural compounds found mostly in plants. They, among other things, produce smells and affect pigment and coloration. And you could say they’re universal: The same terpenes that make a lemon smell like lemon are likely the same terpenes that make your Super Lemon Haze strain smell like a lemon.

There’s a growing understanding within the world of cannabis that the old indica-sativa way of thinking about the effects of the cannabis plant is flawed at best and inaccurate at worst. Instead, “The Entourage Effect” concept is picking up steam. The concept posits that a combination of cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBN, THC, etc.) and terpenes are really what cause the unique smell, look, and effect of each cannabis strain.

Another intoxicant that Americans love to consume and sometimes refer to as “skunky” (though usually not in a good way) is beer. And beer is full of hops, which are genetically related to the cannabis plant, falling in the same plant family, called Cannabaceae.

Experts frequently point to one terpene, myrcene, as having a particularly skunky smell—and it’s found in certain cannabis strains in addition to hops.

“While not all strains with myrcene smell like skunks, it’s a common trait—and one that stoners have grown to love,” explained Herbert Fuego, the columnist for “Ask a Stoner,” a feature in Denver’s Westword alt-weekly.

But a growing body of scientific evidence is pointing to a different culprit.

Thiols: Thiols are alcohol-like chemical compounds, except with a sulfur atom in place of the oxygen atom. They’re also the primary cause of a skunk’s defensive stench, according to 1980s research referenced by Discover Magazine.

A 2001 study by the University of Northern Carolina and Belgium’s University of Gent found that 3-MBT, a thiol similar to one emitted by skunks, causes beer to get that skunky persona. That particular thiol was found in the hops used to make the beer.

Thomas H. Shellhammer, a professor of fermentation science at Oregon State University, told Discover that the minute a beer is exposed to ultraviolet light—like sunlight—a chemical reaction occurs that quickly creates the sulfury thiol.

“If you walk outside with a nice yellow beer like a pilsner on a summer day, the change is happening almost immediately,” Shellhammer told Discover.

And the thiol theory got some serious backing in a recent peer-reviewed study by California-based terpene research and production company Abstrax Tech.

Using a technology called 2-Dimensional gas chromatography (or 2DGC) the researchers found “key volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs)—organic compounds containing sulfur” and thiols as the primary cause of the skunky smell in cannabis, according to a press release announcing the findings. The study says these compounds are actually similar to VSCs found in garlic.

“I have suspected for years now that we were missing something in our understanding of this plant,” study co-author and cannabis industry veteran Josh Del Rosso said in the release. “Although terpenes have been hailed as the major source of the pungent scent of cannabis, we now know that it is this new class of VSCs.”

So whether it’s terpenes, thiols, key volatile sulfur compounds or something else yet to be discovered, the age-old question of, “Why does my weed smell like a skunk?” has a growing body of science to be explored.

Summer is right around the corner. The weather is getting milder in many parts of the U.S. And if you’re not already thinking about the shows, rooftops, trails, and festivals you want to hit, then, my friend, you’re already behind.

Are you like an increasing number of Americans living in states where cannabis is legal? In that case, those summer activities will involve weed—and perhaps a lot of it.

Here are the 10 must-have cannabis accessories that will make you the most popular person at the party and ensure your cannabis-filled summer is one to (hazily) remember!

A Plan

You’re going to be consuming intoxicating substances, quite possibly with people you don’t know very well, and in crowded or perhaps desolate spaces. Do you know where and when to meet up should you lose cell service? Do you have a buddy system in place? Do you have a ride-hailing app installed on your phone (and enough money on your credit card to pay for it)? Be like a Boy Scout and be prepared.

Mini-Prerolls

Two trends have merged to make the old-school, 1-gram joint a thing of the past. First, we’re still in the middle of a global pandemic, and nobody needs to be swapping saliva and sharing a joint. Second, the notion of “more is better” has finally evolved within the cannabis sector to a “gradual is better.” This has opened up the market to all sorts of low-dose products, and one is mini-prerolls. Essentially, it’s a premade joint containing a half-gram (or less) of cannabis. No muss, no fuss, no spreading germs.

A Vape Device

Not everybody wants to inhale a combusted natural substance into their lungs, yet they still seek the instant gratification of a smoked high. Plus, nobody wants to wait 45 minutes for that edible to kick in. Vapes are cheap, discrete, and getting better. With technological improvements, the cannabis extracts available for vape usage are more like a “smoker’s high” than ever before. Look for live resin or rosin cartridges at your favorite store.

Edibles

OK, maybe you have a friend who doesn’t want to inhale any substance into their lungs. And perhaps they’re a gluten-free vegan with a soy allergy. Luckily, there are countless edibles options that will work for just about any diet. And technology in edibles is improving, too—while most will still take a good half hour to kick in, some brands are advertising “fast-acting” effects that a user could feel within 15 minutes of consumption.

Stash Box

Look: Weed might be legal where you live, but walking around smelling like a dispensary is just rude. And, let’s face it: It still draws unwanted attention from, well, let’s call them “certain authorities.” There are plenty of options—from bags to tubes and boxes that will hold your weed and keep that odor under control.

Beverages

First off, cottonmouth sucks. Second, cannabis beverages are all the rage, and they’re getting better, too. Many are delicious, and they leverage some of the same technology that edibles manufacturers are using to speed up the high. Having some regular old water is probably a good idea, too.

Snacks

Maybe stay away from the infused candies and pastries for this one, and have something quick to eat in case someone on your team needs it. There’s a fine line between the munchies and hangry.

Portable Bluetooth Speakers

You aren’t going hiking with some friends and smoking weed in silence, are you? Music is an integral part of the cannabis experience. But you already knew that.

The Right Bag

This all might sound like a lot, but it’s really nothing you couldn’t fit into a large backpack or tote. So, find your look at the right price range and remember: It should be waterproof and have lots of pockets.

Shades

You should probably have eye drops in that bag already, but just in case, keep those bloodshot eyes under wraps, look fantastic and remember that the future is bright.

With these 10 must-have accessories, you’re all set to have an exciting, ganja-packed summer you’re sure to remember!

While there are a good amount of nonalcoholic spirits on grocery store shelves, why not indulge in a cannabis-infused beverage? Canna-beverages not only replace the alcohol you’re used to having in hand, but they also help keep your spirits lifted. Also, because of the nano-emulsification process needed to break the THC down into drinkable form, cannabis-infused beverages offer a rapid onset (within 15 minutes) and rapid offset, so you can catch a buzz but still be able to move on with your evening.

Here are five delicious infused drinks to try:

 1. CANN

CANN social tonics come in two different options, CBD/THC microdose flavors (four milligrams of CBD and two of THC) and their new Hi-Boy cans that are a light 5-milligram dosage. They come in a few different flavors, including grapefruit rosemary, blood orange cardamom, and lemon lavender.

These delta-8 infused drinks are excellent for consumers looking for a little bit of a higher dosage. While they do offer a light CBD ‘sessions’ version, their classic 1:1 10 milligrams THC:10 milligrams Delta 8 ‘higher vibes’ drinks elevate the vibe just right. They come in lemon ginger, blood-orange bitters, watermelon basil, and lemon hibiscus.

These lemonades are one of the most delicious beverages I’ve come across. They offer indica, sativa, hybrid options in a much heftier 100-milligram dosage. There is one 1:1 CBD choice for users as well, and the experience can be super relaxing. The lemonades are raspberry, black cherry, honey, strawberry hibiscus, and key lime.

The weather outside is still a little chilly, and Kikoko offers lightly dosed herbal tea packets to keep you cozy through the winter. They offer microdose options for any time of the day, uplifting positivi-tea (10mg THC, 5mg CBD), a bedtime tranquili-tea (3mg THC, 5mg CBN), a sexy sensuali-tea (7mg THC), and a comfy sympa-tea (3mg THC, 20mg CBD).

If you love a good soda, these Keef colas will be just for you. The fizzy sweet treats are great on their own or can be added to ice cream to make a delightful float. They come in 10-milligram cans and bottles in flavors: Purple passion, root beer, orange, classic cola, and blue razz.

These are just a few of many cannabis beverages available on dispensary menus. They should be located in the edible section, but feel free to ask your budtender their beverage selections!
