LANSING, MI — The first commercial recreational marijuana sales in Michigan are expected to occur after 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1.

The Michigan Regulatory Agency on Wednesday, Nov. 27, announced it plans to officially transfer product currently licensed under the medical marijuana to the recreational side for sale at that time.

Employees for the three licensed marijuana shops, Arbors Wellness, 321 E. Liberty St. in Ann Arbor; Exclusive Brands, 3820 Varsity Drive in Ann Arbor; and Greenstone Provisions, 228 Ashley St. in Ann Arbor, all said they plan to make their first sales after the state transfer concludes.

The state on Nov. 13 said it would allow marijuana retailers to relabel up to 50% of their medical marijuana product that had been in inventory for 30 days or more for recreational sales.

The state began accepting recreational marijuana applications on Nov. 1. Marijuana Regulatory Agency Director Andrew Brisbo said he expects nearly a dozen retail locations to be licensed by the new year.
