A federal judge struck down the ban on gun possession for people who consume marijuana, calling the Department of Justice’s justification for the policy “concerning” and saying their reasoning “misses the mark.”

Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) tweeted, “As the opioid epidemic continues to devastate our state, more must be done to combat this crisis. That’s why I joined my colleagues in urging President Biden to restore the Drug Czar – the director of @ONDCP – to a cabinet position, increasing the position’s effectiveness.”

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) spoke about the regulatory benefits of marijuana legalization.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) tweeted, “Decriminalizing cannabis has overwhelming support not just in conservative South Carolina but across the country. As conservatives we must work to return power back to the states, and that is exactly what the States Reform Act does.”

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) discussed efforts to crack down on illegal marijuana cultivation in his State of the State speech.

Maryland’s attorney general is supporting a bill to repeal the state’s 20-year mandatory minimum sentence for unlicensed marijuana sales.

The Georgia Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee held a hearing on a bill to allow people with certain convictions to grow hemp.
