The president of the Cannabinoid Industry Association is joining an Atlanta-based hemp company, Verde Leaf, to lead testing and product development for a new subsidiary making CBD products.

Priscilla Agoncillo will be board chairwoman and president of Medadex Pharma, a new subsidiary of the privately-held hemp grower and processor.

Agoncillo will remain president of CBDIA’s board of advisors. She is based in California.

She will oversee product development and efficacy testing for Medadex, with plans to develop pharmaceutical-grade CBD treatments approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Agoncillo is a longtime cannabis entrepreneur and activist in California. She was campaign field director for that state’s unsuccessful 2010 campaign to legalize recreational marijuana.
